Allah (SWT) has created us to worship and obey Him and the Prophet (SAW) was sent down to educate us in how best to worship and serve Allah (SWT). We cannot worship Allah (SWT) according to our understanding, but rather it must be in accordance with the laws of Allah (SWT). The rules and regulations which outline the method of worship and obedience are termed as ‘Fiqh’ (Islamic Jurisprudence or Sacred Law). The manner of purifying ourselves, the manner of performing our Salah, Fasting, Hajj, Zakah, Nikah and etc are all explained to us through the subject of Fiqh.

The great famous Imams have extracted the rules and regulations of Fiqh from the Qur`an and Ahadith. Imam Abu Hanifah, Imam Shafi’i. Imam Malik and Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (May Allah’s mercy be upon them) are some of the great Imams. After a deep study of the Shari’ah, they have compiled books on Fiqh, making it easy for us to follow Islam.
