Our Appeal To You

Dear Supporter of Islamic Education,

Ebrahim College (EC) is an Islamic 6th form and madrasah that offers school leavers and adults alike the opportunity to study both traditional Islamic Sciences and mainstream A-Level and GCSE subjects in an Islamic environment. We are proud to announce that our first cohort of students have successfully completed 6 years of the traditional Alim course at Ebrahim and are now travelling to different seminaries around the world to complete their final year and recieve Ijazah from experts in the higher Islamic sciences. This is a significant step in the realisation of our vision to produce compitent imams and ulama to serve the future of Islam and the next generation of Muslims, alhamdulillah.

We now continue to offer the Alim course on a full and part time basis and students continue to progress through it. Overall our part time courses remain a significant part of our services to the community and thousands of students have studied various courses with us. Now in 2009, we are opening an Islamic secondary school with hifz (memorisation of the Qur'an), called Ebrahim Academy; so that we can also produce huffaz who will go on to become ulama at Ebrahim College. Despite our progress in these areas, we constantly struggle to make ends meet financially as the College is not supported by the Government. We charge our students fees which are heavily subsidised by the College in order to keep courses affordable for our young students and their guardians. This ultimately results in a constant negative cash flow for the College in every academic year. As a result, the College carries a deficit of over £150,000 on an annual basis which we fundraise to cover. Alhamdulillah through the community's generosity and the significant generosity of certain blessed individuals, we have managed to cope despite these deficits.

In addition to this the College owes the community around £500,000 which was borrowed for the initial set up of both the College and the Academy and at times to manage cash flow shortages mid year. And finally, we aim to purchase the College building for £1,000,000 within the next 5 years to rid ourselves of rental burden.

For this EC has launched a £1,000,000 campaign to help raise the necessary funds to build a secure future for the College, its students and the community it serves.

Any donation of any amount is welcome. However, we are making a special appeal to 1500 brothers and sisters to come forward and donate just £1000 towards this target. We will honour every donor by including his/her name on our Founder's Board. A beautiful ornamental display within our building to honour our donors and constantly remind ourselves of their generosity and remember them in our duas.

The £1,500,000 campaign aims to:

  • Clear the total Qardh hasan debt of around £500,000
  • Purchase the college building to rid us of rental burden.
  • Improve the college’s infrastructure, providing students with the necessary tools to excel
  • Keep course fees affordable allowing more students access to our unique educational programme

Hadrat Abu Huraira (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (SAWS) as saying:

Among the actions and good deeds for which a believer will continue to receive reward after his death are knowledge which he taught and spread, a good son whom he left behind, or a copy of the Qur'an which he left as a legacy…" (Ibn Majah and Baihaqi)

Sadaqah Jariyah - the smart and lasting donation .....

Any form of donation or help that you extend to further the course of Islamic education and generation-building is a perpetual donation (sadaqah jariyah). Today you will donate something, helping produce tomorrow's 'ulama and imams and furthering the propagation of knowledge; this donation will be your legacy after you and will continue to benefit you in your grave and then on the day of judgement.

You will share in everything that Ebrahim College accomplishes: the teaching of its teachers, the learning of its students and their services to the deen after they become ulama; all of it will be recorded in your book of deeds.

The Prophet SAW said, 'When the human being dies, his actions dissociate from him except three things: sadaqah jariyah, beneficial knowledge, or a pious child who supplicates for him.' (Sahih Muslim)
