Support for Newly Graduated Ulama

Alhamdulillah, there are many Darul Ulooms in this country from which ulama graduate every year. These ulama pursue different routes after graduation: some continue their studies in postgraduate courses, others go on to serve as Imams, teachers, chaplains, and community leaders and workers, and many choose to take a range of alternative careers including entrepreneurship. Having studied in an alternative and traditional education system, away from home at residential institutes or abroad, these young valuable assets of the community often need very specific help which is rarely available.

Ebrahim Al-Khalil Trust employs a significant number of ulama who been through the same experience, while many students of Ebrahim College will go on to complete the Alim course and become ulama themselves. The organisation therefore feels an obligation and commitment to helping ulama and those studying to become ulama by sharing the social and proffessional exprience of its staff. The Trust offers the following services to such people for free as part of its commitment to the community:

  • Help with understanding the mainstream higher education system and advice choosing postgraduate courses at mainstream and Islamic universities.
  • Careers guidance and help with seeking employment.
  • Voluntary work at the Trust and internships. This will enable them to gain formal experience in a vibrant workplace and learn from experienced people with similar academic and social backgrounds.
  • Advice on how best to settle themselves back in to their local communities after having spent a significant time away at a residential institute or abroad.
  • Advice on the expectations of ulama and Imams held by the community and how to avoid common problems.
  • Advice on continuous academic and proffessional development, and opportunities to get involved in proffessional development and in-service training programmes at Ebrahim al-Khalil Trust.
  • Advice and help with setting up much needed community projects and services.

If you have recently graduated as a Alim or are expecting to soon and would like our help with any of the above, please get in touch with us.
