ALIM COURSE HOMEPAGE

'Indeed, it is only the people of knowledge who fear Allah.' (al-Qur'an 35: 28)

The alim course is unfamiliar territory for most people, to really understand it, you will have to start your learning here and browse this section.

Using the submenu to your left or the links below, you will be able to browse the following infomation:

At EC, full-time 6th Form students can combine their A levels with the Islamic Sciences Programmes (ISP) over 3 years. These 3 years are the equivalent of 3 years of the Alim course taught in traditional madrasahs. The ISP can also be studied without A levels on a full time basis in two years or part time basis in 4 years. Al-Hamdulillah, in 2006 we extended the Alim course provision by another 3 years so that students can complete their Alim course up to the final year at EC. They would then be able to complete their final Ijazah year (At-Takmeel) at EC or elsewhere in the UK or the Islamic world. Our first graduate have now graduated (in 2010) with class topping results in various institutes.

So that our students complete the Alim course with a recognised undergraduate qualification, we have been working in partnership with a British university to develop a BA in 'Islamic Sciences and Society'. This BA will form a necessary but not sufficient part of the Alim course and will grant graduate ulama a British degree which will enable them to continue postgraduate studies in any university or pursue a suitable career as an Alim. This still remains work in progress and we ask you for duas for speedy success. .

6th Formers who would like to study the Alim course in conjunction with AS/A levels, visit the 6th Form section for 6th Form related details.
