Course Description: 

This course is a study about the early post prophetic era and looks at the lives and the rule of the four successors to leadership of the Muslim people after the passing of the prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Level: Alimiyyah Programme Year 3

Context:

This module follows on from the course on the Islamic History: Seerah. It is a unit in a comprehensive package of modules covering various Islamic sciences including hadith, tafsir, fiqh, aqidah and Arabic literature taught in the Alimiyyah 3 programme.

Learning Outcomes:

All students will be able to:

  • Appreciate the sacrifices and sincerity of the companions.
  • Learn how the best of people dealt with the situation they faced at their times.

Some advanced students will be able to:

  • Recognise the different leadership techniques of the caliphs

The most advanced students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to recall the historical events whose outcome impact modern events and geopolitics

Prerequisites:

Students must complete the Islamic History: Seerah course as a prerequisite or have studied the equivalent.

Teaching and Learning Strategies:

The classes will be conducted through lectures and discussions.

Course Delivery:

This course will be delivered on campus and streamed live online using an online live streaming platform called ‘Zoom’. Lessons will be recorded and students provided access to them. Further details will be emailed to students 5 days before the course commences insha Allah.
