Course Description:

This course is a study of selected chapters of Islamic morality and character builing from  famous collection of Ḥadīth, Mishkāt al-Maṣābīḥ of Imām Khaṭīb al-Tibrīzī.

Level: Alimiyyah Programme Year 2

Context:

This course adds more detail to previously-studied creedal discussion of  general Islamic character and morality. It also progresses a students understanding of the Ḥadīth discipline.

Learning Objectives:

This course aims to

  • Transmit narrations in accordance to the framework laid out by Ḥadith principles
  • Explain and contextualise the concept of Tarbiyah
  • Highlight the relevance of Tarbiyah narrations
  • Identify and elaborate the signs of Judgement Day in line with the narrations
  • Engage with contemporary discussions about Islamic charter building and morality.

Prerequisites:

Students should have completed Alimiyyah 1 or an equivalent programme which covers a basic text of Ḥadīth like Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīn.

Teaching and learning Strategies:

Students are required to analyse the set portion of narrations prior to the lesson, using the required reading list provided below.

Course Delivery:

This course will be delivered online using a live streaming platform called ‘Zoom’. Lessons will be recorded and students provided access to them. Further details will be emailed to students 5 days before the course commences insha Allah.
