  • Dr Shoaib Ahmed Malik [Author of ‘Islam and Evolution: Al-Ghazālī and the Modern Evolutionary Paradigm’]
    Dr. Shoaib is formally trained as a chemical engineer and is an assistant professor at Zayed University in Dubai where he teaches the natural sciences (mainly physics and chemistry). He also has had some alimiyya training and completed his MSc in philosophy of science and religion. He has also received a fellowship from Cambridge Muslim College on science and religion, in 2019. His research interests include the areas of Islam and Science, New Atheism, and Philosophical Theology and contributed to book chapters and articles with various publishers and journals. Some of his recent titles include ‘Atheism and Islam: A Contemporary Discourse’ and now ‘Islam and Evolution: Al-Ghazālī and the Modern Evolutionary Paradigm’.
  • Shaykh Abu Aaliyah [Director of The Jawziyyah Institute]

Shaykh Abu Aaliyah Surkheel Sharif has been involved in Islamic teaching both in the UK and abroad since the late 1980’s. Abu Aaliyah has studied the Islamic theology, law, and spirituality with a number of scholars over the last 20 years. He has authored a number of titles, including ‘More Fish Please’, ‘The Golden Rule of Differing’ and ‘Evolution,
Prayer Mats and Telescopes’. He has an MA in Islamic Studies; serves as an imam; has completed a number of
translations; and is currently the Director of The Jawziyyah Institute.

  • Host/Chair: Paul Williams [Blogging Theology]
    Paul Williams is the creator of Blogging Theology, a YouTube channel which attempts to introduce some academic and scholarly content to the subject matter of comparative religion, especially concerning the Abrahamic faiths. He has interviewed leading scholars in biblical studies, Islamic/Christian theology, and philosophy of science from the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Yale, Zaytuna College, amongst many others. Paul studied philosophy and theology and the University of London. He confesses to being an incurable bibliophile and divides his time between London and the South of France.
