Shaykh Dr. Mansur Ali completed his classical Islamic studies (Scholar/Alim course) at Darul-Uloom Bury, UK and then further graduated from Al-Azhar University, Egypt.
Upon his return, the Shaykh completed his Master in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Manchester. His dissertation was on ‘The methodology of western scholars in the study of hadith literature’.
His academic pursuits then lead him to complete a PhD at the University of Manchester, writing a thesis on the ‘Importance of the Isnad in Imam Tirmidhi’s Sunan’.
Shaykh Dr. Masur Ali is currently a lecturer at Cardiff University, where he also supervises several PhD students.
In addition to this, the Shaykh pursues his research in diverse areas, including, Hadith studies as well as Applied Ethics. To this end he has authored a number of books and academic journals on Hadith, Chaplaincy, drug addiction and practical Theology, etc, in addition to several book reviews (See list below).
The Shaykh is also a:
•Vising lecturer at Cambridge Muslim college (working alongside Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad)
•Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
•Khateeb at the Darul Isra Mosque, Cardiff, UK.
Shaykh Dr. Mansur is also a recipient of the 2015 BISCA awards (http://www.biscaawards.org/bisca-2015-awardees-2/).
Shaykh Dr. Mansur enjoys meaningful discussions on various Islamic topics, especially contemporary ethics and he is amongst very few classically-trained Islamic scholars, in the west, who effectively engage with challenging questions raised by Atheism.
In addition to his academic endeavours, the Shaykh enjoys playing squash, cycling, swimming, playing video games & spending time with his family. He is currently living with his wife and 3 children in Cardiff. The Shaykh is also blessed with a very good sense of humour, which is often reflected in his formal & informal sittings.
