Students will study and analyse the Hadith text from all of the 6 books (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasaie and Ibn Majah) focusing on two themes; Taharah and Salah. The teacher will use Tirmidhi’s categorisations of the chapters but students will study all 6 books.

Course Description: 

Students will study and analyse the Hadith text from all of the 6 books (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasaie and Ibn Majah) focusing on two themes; Taharah and Salah. The teacher will use Tirmidhi’s categorisations of the chapters but students will study all 6 books.

Level: Alimiyyah Programme Year 4

Context:

Studying and analysing the Matn of Hadith from Sahihayn and the four Sunan. Students will study and analyse the main chapters from Kitab al-Taharah and Salah alongside commentary books like Fath al Bari to summarise the hadith.

Learning Outcomes:

Knowledge and Understanding:

  1. Students will have the ability to read and analyse the text
  2. Students will discuss the classical and technical terms in Hadith
  3. Students will see how the technical terms been implemented by the Hadith experts

 

Skills:

  • Students will learn to analyse the text and compare the opinions of Hadith experts from the early generations as well as those who came after the author
  • Students will examine the research of the author with other Hadith experts

 

Prerequisites:

Students must be well versed in classical Arabic as this course is a text based course. It is recommended that students have studied Riyadus Saalihen and Mishkatul Masabih prior to this module.

Teaching and Learning Strategies:

The classes will be conducted through lectures and discussions.

Course Delivery:

This course will be delivered on campus and streamed live online using an online live streaming platform called ‘Zoom’. Lessons will be recorded and students provided access to them. Further details will be emailed to students 5 days before the course commences insha Allah.
