Course Description
This programme will trace the life history of our beloved prophet Muhammad ï·º from the days before the advent of Islam; known as the time of ignorance. The course follows his birth and upbringing through to his receiving of prophethood, the spread of Islam in Makkah and the immigration to Madinah including his many struggles and battles. The life of the Prophet ï·º is both inspirational and emotive and is yet full of lessons and anecdotes that continue to unravel themselves to us to this day. Studying the life of the Prophet ï·º is an absolute must for everyone.
In term 3, students will also study either the ‘The Companions’ or ‘The Four Imams’ course depending on which course is running in that academic year as they alternate.
The Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) were the best of generations to traverse this earth. However, they were still men and women like us. What is it that made them so great? What is it that made Allah (swt) be pleased with them? This course will begin by discovering the importance and benefit of studying the lives of the Companions of the Prophet (SAW). We will explore what made them the best of creations
The programme will also cover the lives of the Four Great Imams who were all Mujtahids played a very vital role in the development of jurisprudence. This course will take you along a motivating journey through the life and genius of Imam Abu Hanifah, the dignity of Imam Malik, the talents of Imam al-Shafi’i and the steadfastness of Imam Ahmad.

- Starts in September 2023, 10 weeks, 3 hours (Total 30 hours)
- Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad ï·º, Part 2
- Starts in January 2024, 10 weeks, 3 hours (Total 30 hours)
- The Companions or The Four Imams
- Starts in May 2024, 12 weeks, 3 hours (Total 36 hours)
Duration:
32 weeks (96 hours in total) – delivered over 3 terms
Who is it for & what are the prerequisites:
There are no pre requisites for this course.
Progression / Related courses:
Students who complete this may progress to Islamic History Programme (Two).
Assessment
Students will not be assessed at the end of the course.
Course Delivery
This course is run either onsite or online. When registering, please choose your preferred option/platform. Please note, we may not have both options available in the same term.
