Course Description
The Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) were the best of generations to traverse this earth. However, they were still men and women like us. What is it that made them so great? What is it that made Allah (swt) be pleased with them?
This course will begin by discovering the importance and benefit of studying the lives of the Companions of the Prophet (SAW). We will explore what made them the best of creations. We will endeavour to address the following discourses:
- The importance of knowing about the Companions (Sahabah)
- The definition of a companion (Sahabi)
- The special qualities of the Companions
- The virtues of the Sahabah (The Companions) based on the Qur`an and Sunnah.
We will be discovering the lives of some selective companions:
- Salman al-Farisi
- Mus’ab ibn Umair
- Adi ibn Hatim at-Ta`i
- ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas
- Umm Sulaim ar-Rumaisa
- Abu Ayyub al-Ansari
- Asma` bint Umais
- `Urwah ibn Mas`ud ath-Thaqafi
- Ibn Umm Makhtum
- ‘Abdullah ibn Huzaifah as-Sahmi
Outcomes by the end of the course
- Know who is considered to be a sahabi
- Understand the special status and rights of the Companions
- Learn how the Companions approached social, economical and political issues
- Benefit from the beautiful manners and characteristics of the Companions of the Prophet (SAW)
- Appreciate the sacrifices of the Companions to spread the religion of Islam
Course Delivery
This course can be studied on campus or online (streamed live). When registering for this course, please select your preferred option and then complete the order. Please note, it is not possible to enrol for an online course and attend on campus classes as the classes are separate and require separate registrations.
