Course Overview

This course explores some of the pertinent stories found in surahs of the Qur’an and extracts some key lessons that one can learn from them. Analysis of these stories will also consider a Tafsir element as well as some of the context of the Surah revelation (Asbab Al-Nuzul).
The Qur’an contains within it many lessons, advices and warnings that if the believer adheres and heeds, can benefit from it greatly in this world and the Hereafter.

The stories that have been selected are a few, but undoubtedly hold great weight in its significance and in strengthening a believers Imān in Allah.

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course.

Part 1: 5 weeks – 2 hours each lesson

– Ibrahim AS and his Prophethood

• Defying the idols
• Becoming Khalil of Allah
• Father and Son (Ismail AS)

– Those who will enter Jannah
– People of the Ditch (Ashabul Ukhdood)

– Harut and Marut

• The trial of Magic

Part 2: 5 weeks – 2 hours each lesson

• Duration: 5 weeks – 2 hours each lesson
• Starting in March 2024

• Dwellers of the Town
• Story of Qarun
• Story of Bilqis and Suleiman
• Story of Uzayr (Ezra)
• Story of the Sabbath breakers
• Story of the Owner of the Elephant
• Story of Barsisa the Renegade
• The Tyrants/Oppressors mentioned in the Qur’an (Fir’awn, Qarun, Haaman, Nimrud, Quraysh, Banu Israel)
• Selected stories from Prophet Ibrahim AS

Course Delivery
This course will be delivered using an online live streaming platform called ‘Zoom’. Lessons will be recorded and students provided access to them. Further details will be emailed to students before the course commences insha Allah. For more information on how this works, please click here.
