Course Description

This programme develops the learner’s ability in Arabic phonetics specifically for the purpose of the recitation of the Qur’an. The course is designed to cater for complete beginners in Tajweed (who can already read Arabic) as well as those who have some previous knowledge and ability of Qur’an recitation and Tajweed.

Students will study some rules of Tajweed, and have an opportunity to implement such rules in their reading looking into the Qur’an, and lastly learn to recite some surahs by rote.

This programme includes the following modules. For more information, please click on the relevant level.

• Tajweed Level 1
  • Starts in Sep 2023, 12 weeks, 2 hours and 30 minutes (Total 30 hours)
• Tajweed Level 2
  • Starts in Jan 2024, 12 weeks, 2 hours and 30 minutes (Total 30 hours)
• Tajweed Level 3
  • Starts in May 2024, 12 weeks, 2 hours and 30 minutes (Total 30 hours)

Duration:
36 weeks (90 hours in total) – delivered over 3 terms

2 hours and 30 minutes each lesson

Who is it for & what are the prerequisites:
You must have completed either the Access to Arabic and Tajweed course or have acquired equivalent knowledge.

Progression:
Students who complete this may progress to Advanced Qiraa’ah course.

Assessment
Students will be assessed at the end of the course.

This course is run either onsite or online. When registering, please choose your preferred option/platform.

All students will receive the relevant course details, materials 5 days before the course starts. This will include:

• Zoom meeting details (for online courses)
• Pdf versions of the course materials/notes by email
• Link to Google Drive to access courses notes and recordings (if applicable)
• Link to Google Classroom to interact with teachers, receive additional course material and information.

• Printed copies of your course materials are available to collect from the college office on request.
