Course Description

Level 4 of EC’s comprehensive Arabic language programme. The programme incorporates modern and classical Arabic as well as grammar. It is one of the most comprehensive coverages of classical Arabic and grammar available. In Level 4 students will build on the standard of language achieved in Level 1-3 and progress on to studying more complex texts directly in Arabic and developing proficiency in the practical application of the language. This will be progressed further at levels 5 and 6 enabling students to be able to read fluently with a good understanding of a broad range of texts and be able to converse confidently using vocabulary of a broad range of conversational themes.

Duration:
12 weeks (36 hours in total), 3 hours each lesson

Prerequisites: The ability to read Arabic and study of Arabic Language Level 3, or its equivalent.

Progression: Arabic Language Level 5

Level 4 will focus more on consolidation of grammar covered in the previous modules. It will provide students with the opportunity to implement all that they have learnt so far. This will be achieved through reading different texts and sampling some Quranic and Hadith texts. A few topics of Syntax and Morphology will be covered in this module as well, they are:

• Haal – The Accusative of State
• Numbers 1-99
• Tamyeez – The accusative of the specification
• Al-Mustathna – The exceptive form
• The Assimilated verbs
• The holow verbs
• The Defective Verbs

Assessment
Students will be assessed at the end of the course.

Course Delivery

This course is run either onsite or online. When registering, please choose your preferred option/platform. Please note, we may not have both options available in the same term.
