Course Description
This course will start from basic phrases into more complex and long sentences. This course will not focus on the language aspect, but rather aid students in learning different phrases and provide them with an environment where they can immerse themselves into the language. The main aspect of this course is to equip students with basic phrases of a range of different topics, enabling a student to be able to converse in Arabic at a minimum standard.
Prerequisite
There is no prerequisite of Arabic Language for this course, however, basic reading and writing skills will be needed as students will need to go away and memorise phrases and etc. Students will be taught a variety of different phrases, sentences and discussions which they can use on a daily basis at home, work and abroad.
Duration:
The course is 15 weeks long (over two terms, Term 1 – 10 weeks, Term 2 – 5 weeks) – 1 hour and 30 minutes per session

- How to speak about your meals and the foods you like
- How to converse about prayers and prayer times

- How to say the time in Arabic
- How to converse about your job
- How to speak about shopping and how to buy things
- How to describe weather
- How to speak about people and places
- How to speak about hobbies and pastimes
- Conversation you may have whilst on a journey
- How to speak about Hajj and Umrah
- How to count objects and practical applications for knowing the numbers
- How to speak about health and illness
- How to speak about holidays and foreign places
- A vocabulary list of approximately 600 words
Assessment
Students may be assessed at the end of the course.
