Course Description:

This course is a study of the life of prophet Muhammad (SAW) from his noble birth till his death. The book chosen is Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtoom (The Sealed Nectar) by Sheikh Safi-Ur-Rahman Al-Mubarakpuri.

Level: Alimiyyah Programme Year 1

Context:

This module is the beginning  of the Islamic history’. It is a unit in a comprehensive package of modules covering various Islamic sciences including hadithtafsir, fiqh, aqidah and Arabic literature.

Learning Outcomes:

All students will be able to:  

  • Show understanding the life of prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the main events that happened in the beginning in Islam .

Some advanced students will be able to:

  • link As-Seerah to Al-Qur`an and As-Sunnah and understand a lot of Qur`anic contexts .

The most advanced students will be able to:

  •     prove from the seerah many evedances about the prophecy of prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Prerequisites:

Students must have studied Ebrahim College’s Arabic Intensive Programme or have studied its equivalent.

Teaching and learning:

The classes will be delivered through lectures and discussions which will also include written exercises. Students will be assessed once at the end of each semester.

Course Delivery:

This course will be delivered on campus and streamed live online using an online live streaming platform called ‘Zoom’. Lessons will be recorded and students provided access to them. Further details will be emailed to students 5 days before the course commences insha Allah.
