Description

Course Description:

A study of ʿibādāt from the classical Ḥanafī text mukhtaṣar al qudūrī. Also, there will be a brief look at foundation-level legal theory from Shaykh Akram Nadwī mabādi’ fī ʿilm uṣūl al fiqh.

Level: Alimiyyah Programme Year 1

Context:

This module is the second year of a three-year basic undergraduate study of Ḥanafī Fiqh. Alternatively, for students wishing to pursue a specialisation in Fiqh, this module would be the second year in a five-year course.

Learning Outcomes:

Knowledge & Understanding. Applicants will know and understand:

  • the specified subject content;
  • legal terminologies and concepts;
  • masā’il of worship

Application & Skills. Applicants will be able to:

  • solve Fiqhi problems relating to worship
  • demonstrate basic critical skills

Prerequisites:

Students must have studied Ebrahim College’s Arabic Intensive Programme or have studied its equivalent.

Teaching and learning Strategies:

Board work, text analysis, worksheets, handouts and workshops

Course Delivery:

This course will be delivered on campus and streamed live online using an online live streaming platform called ‘Zoom’. Lessons will be recorded and students provided access to them. Further details will be emailed to students 5 days before the course commences insha Allah.
