Course Description:
This course is part of the Dawrah al-Hadith programme. It will explore the Muqaddimah and chapter of Hudud in Sahih Muslim.
Level: Alimiyyah Programme Year 4
Context:
This course focuses on introducing key concepts in hadith, information about Imam Muslim, his Sahih, and the key books of hadith. Students will be expected to read regularly from a wide variety of commentaries in order to be able to participate in class discussions.
Learning Outcomes:
This course aims to:
- Analyse the prophetic narrations carefully
- Introduce students to Imam Muslim’s Sahih and the remaining Canonical collections
- Explore Imam Muslim’s hadith methodology through his collection
Prerequisites:
Students should have completed Alimiyyah 3 or an equivalent programme which covers a Ḥadīth text like Mishkāt al-Maṣābīḥ.
Teaching and Learning Strategies:
The classes will be conducted through lectures and discussions. Students are required to analyse the set portion of narrations prior to the lesson, using the required reading list provided below.
Course Delivery:
This course will be delivered on campus and streamed live online using an online live streaming platform called ‘Zoom’. Lessons will be recorded and students provided access to them. Further details will be emailed to students 5 days before the course commences insha Allah.
